"I was swallowed up by the waves, washed away, scattered, then born anew" - game description
Late july midsummer is a fish-themed Yume Nikki fangame on Roblox. The game follows Nessie as she wanders through a collection of strange dreams. ![]()
Its main objective is for players to explore different dreams within the game and find hidden badges to progress the story.
Along the journey, players will meet many new faces and secrets waiting to be uncovered.
Late july midsummer is a great example of a Roblox Yume Nikki fangame. It has many cool dreams and different badges. The game is so well-made and has its own charm. It is my personal favorite game on Roblox.

When joining the game, you will spawn in a small house in the middle of the sea. To get to the nexus, simply touch the bed inside the house.

After you wake up at the nexus, take the boat to teleport to the doors. There are 6 doors that you can go through, each leads to a different world that you can explore.
The game progresses through badges. By exploring, you can find 8 different badges, each gives you a unique effect that makes navigation easier.
Make sure to look out for an object that looks slightly out of place in each dream, that object might teleport you to a different dream if you interact with it.
There are also some dreams that require parkour to continue.
There are currently 189 obtainable dreams within the game, varying from beautiful dreams to spooky dreams. Here are some of my personal favorites:
1. A forgotten lesson
A school that got abandoned. This dream reminds me of those zombie apocalypse animes. The foggy atmosphere adds up to the feeling. I love to go here when I'm having a bad day just to stare at those rooms again, which got overgrown by moss. My favorite parts of this dream are the flowers. (also I do touch grass I swear)

2. Church ruin
A church that now exists only in memories. Overgrown plants are all that remains. I like this dream as much as the last one because of the vines.

3. Fireworks
An apartment at night. Outside the window, people are celebrating something with fireworks. This dream is cozy and nostalgic. It reminds me of the times I celebrated Lunar new year with my friends and family.

4. Forever
A flat and empty grassland. When entering, you will be locked at first-person view and walk incredibly slow. At the center of this dream is a large tree with hanging vines, beneath it is a long weathered grey tombstone. This dream gives me a feeling that everything will be alright in the end. It also reminds me of old questionable low-poly games.

5. Overgrown city
A large city overgrown with plants, some parts are buried deep within the water. This dream gives me more post-apocalypse vibe. A fun fact is this dream has Vocaloid references.

6. Overgrown office
An abandoned office. A workplace that was once busy with papers and chattering. It is surprisingly calming to explore.

There are currently 11 effects within the game, 9 of them are associated with different badges.
Here are 9 effects that you can obtain through badges:
1. Winter tread
Awards player the effect "winter boots"
The effect resembles a pair of winter boots. When equipped, +5 jump height, halves gravity. Primarily used to traverse dreams faster or reach higher places.
2. A single shining light
Awards player the effect 'the sun"
When equipped, the effect resembles a fish trapped in a sphere of yellow and is held with two hands. If it is turned on it omits light to shine the environment close to the player.
3. Obligatory pie
Awards player the effect "wittgenpie"
The effect resembles a pie that allows players to hike practically any flat vertical surface (even other players). It gives them a lot more ways to explore dreams. Clicking throws the pie, and the pie will fall off the surface after 5 seconds. It is a useful but difficult tool to use.
The pie also has skins that you can obtain on different events.
4. Out of time
Awards player the effect "windup key"
The effect resembles a black windup key. When equipped, it grants the player +10 to the player's walkspeed stat. The windup key becomes attached to the their back until taken off. This effect has a UGC counterpart.
5. Tea party
Awards player the effect "teacup"
The effect resembles a pink teacup. When clicking the teacup, the amount of connections and badges (provided there is one) will appear on the player's screen and fade away after a while. This makes it extremly useful if you are hunting badges and exploring dreams.
It will also instantly heal by a set amount of hp that is smaller than the overtime health provided by coral soda. (I just knew about the heal thing lol)
6. Bonafide fisher
Awards player the effect "fishing rod"
The effect resembles a fishing rod. When equipped in selected dreams that has water, players can use it to catch different kinds of fish. The amount of fish will shows up on the leaderboard.
7. A discovery
Awards player the effect "broken cellphone"
The effect resembles a pink cellphone that seems to be broken. It does nothing besides being able to emit sound upon click akin to dialing a phone number.
8. The last train
Awards player the effect "sabre"
The Sabre is a combat effect within the game. It is a reflective sabre that lets you perform different combat moves.
The effect has an attack cycle, a parry move, and a critical move. The UGC counterpart gives you 2 more moves(Dreamers slash and Tea time).
9. Spring's first breeze
Awards player the effect "plushie"
This is a seasonal effect which is obtainable on April fools! The effect resembles plushies of different characters from the Late july midsummer visual novel. When clicked, the plushie will be thrown on the ground and disappear after a few seconds. The effect then switches to another plushie character and players can throw it again.
Here are 2 extra effects that you can obtain without having badges:
10. Fish bomb
The effect resembles a blue fish that can explode. Players own this item on the first time joining the game. When using, the fish explodes and brings players back to the nexus (becareful not to misclick it while playing!).
11. Coral cola
The effect resembles a can of coke. When used, it heals players by a set amount and increases walk speed.

Late july midsummer has many different characters that players can meet on different dreams. Here are some characters that I think you should know:
Nessie
The character that players will play as.
Not much about Nessie currently, but it is implied that she moved to the current place that the story takes place. At a unknown point of time, Nessie's motorboat broke which means she's stranded on the current house she's at.

Grier
Grier is an NPC in the dream tick tick tick tick tick tick.
She was a porcelain doll timekeeper who was working under boss (another character in the game), and is let go in the direct aftermath of the events in clock tower (a dream). Before her firing, she used to help repair the towers in order to be used to troll the world with eternal night.
Fun fact: She appeared in the Late july midsummer visual novel as Nessie's childhood best friend!

(artwork by Alph)
Ulysses
Ulysses is an NPC in the dream Planted canyon.
They appears to be an early 2000s model computer that is perpetually angry or annoyed. Interacting with them reveals that they think lowly of all non-robotic sentient lifeforms and enjoys seeing them suffer.
Their head has a UGC counterpart!
(They are one of my favorite characters lol)

Note: I will do Agathe, Octovia and Eden later, maybe more too!!
